This document tree contains all the short fiction that I have written or am currently writing.

Quick Stories are the result of writing exercises based on images either drawn at random or voted upon by members of outside forums. Breaking the Raven’s Back is my first attempt at writing fiction. Many thanks to Kim Miller for getting me started.

The FeldChronicles are stories based on alternate personas found on the Barscape forum. FeldChronicles #1 is my first attempts at writing multi-chapter fiction. The FeldChronicles are written live, in that they are written as they are posted and only re-edited to fix obvious spelling errors. They have been copied here for posterity. Note that there was a 9 month hiatus within FeldChronicles #2 before the first scene in the Barscape bar. I haven’t looked, but the writing style probably changed. Also, FeldChronicles #2 includes a character that I introduced in the Quick Story: Grief, Interrupted, so read that one first.

Give Them Rest is my first attempt at a full-on multi-chapter short story. It is based on a fever half-dream I had. The core of the dream was me, as a white night, fighting death. The details of the armor and weapons and dress were very vivid. Initially, I was winning the battle, then I lost due to my sins. This story grew up around those core thoughts.

As of 10-July-2006, FeldChronicles #2 is finished, all 51 chapters of it. This ranks as the largest story I’ve written to date. It is not perfect. Most chapters were written off the cuff with only minor edits. Therefore it is not polished, but I think it’s in decent enough condition.
