Novel Ideas
Tonight I decided to get more serious with my writing. Yet another story idea popped into my head this morning, raising the total to four. In addition, I also have a short story idea as well as another FeldChronicles story for Barscape.
Without giving too much away, the novel ideas are:
- Apple’s Worm
- A writing exercise that got out of hand. Futuristic science fiction story involving conflict and compelled sacrifice.
- Destiny’s Bond
- Fantasy story set in an age of musketry. The seeds for this story are based on a 10 year old D&D adventure that never happened.
- The Spark That Set The Flame
- Fiction story about one man’s spiritual and emotional rebirth.
- Resurrection Man
- Contemporary science fiction story which deals with the political and spiritual ramifications of brain and memory reconstruction. This story has been in my head for about 10 years or so.
The short story idea is called Shitheel’s Razor. Or, keep it selfish, stupid. It is a story of what happens when one man’s selfishness gets the better of him and those around him. In my head, the story is completed, but writing it is going to be difficult. The expression of dark thoughts to paper is a long limb for me to sit on.
The FeldChronicles story is a puff of smoke at this point. I usually make it up as I go along and it’s a very sequential process as I write “live” into the forum topic. I occasionally write myself into a near dead end and/or make continuity errors that I don’t catch until later, but it’s fun nonetheless. This will be my third FeldChronicles story. The first was 7 chapters or so. The second, which is nearing completion, weighs in at a hefty 32+ chapters. I feel like I’ve been writing a full season of a sci-fi television series.
