New Feature: Album of the Month

I decided that embedding the music player on the main page was wasteful and not very useful. First of all, when editing posts with WordPress, the system will display a preview page of the post. This preview would include the player which would cause a series of site accesses and Flash startup. What a waste of time. Second, if I was using the player and tried to navigate the site, the player on the first page would stop and load the new player on the next page. Not useful.

Since all the music content I had in the playlist were some dated music mixes and “radio shows” from the Barscape forum, I decided to feature an Album of the Month and use the album art as a clickable link to launch the player. So now, if you don’t want the music, you won’t get repeated Flash initializations. If you do, it will launch in a new browser window by itself, where it can play in the background.

The inaugural album of the month, and for December as well since we’re halfway through November, is an album that I bought recently after hearing a bootlegged copy that a friend burned for me. It is Remnants of a Deeper Purity by black tape for a blue girl. The album was released in 1996 by Projekt Records and is an example of darkwave or dark ambient music.

Enjoy.
